Pre-law is not a major 和 has no required courses. 然而, all students considering law school are strongly encouraged to take the following three-course sequence (each course is offered on alternate years):
- POL 3780 Law 和 Society examines the philosophy of law, the organization 和 operation of America’s civil 和 criminal justice systems, 和 legal issues such as product liability, 协助自杀, 民事没收, 和 endangered species protection.
The course also covers how to prepare for law school, 和 features guest speakers such as judges, 律师, 介质, 法学院学生, 和 law school admissions officers.
- POL 4450 American Constitutional Law: Powers 和 POL4451 American Constitutional Law: Liberties 学习美国.S. Constitution 和 Supreme Court, 和 the role of constitutional law in American government 和 society. Special attention is given to cases dealing with federalism 和 separation of powers.
- POL 4452 International Law explores the basics of international law, including how it is made, the key institutions involved, 和 the enforcement of global law.

Pre-law students are also encouraged to take courses that strengthen their skills of writing 和 analysis, which are crucial to success in law school, including PHIL 1001 Power of Logic.
